it says in kaplan that thiazid and K sparing drugs can be used for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. I don't understand the mechnasim. thiazid and K sparing are diuretics so they cause increase in urination, so isn't that making the diabetes insipidus more worst???

Mainly these are thiazide diuretics which are used .Their exac mechanism is not known.But their proposed MOA is Volume contraction. As far K sparing diuretics are concerned it is mainly Amiloride which is used and that only in Li induece NDI. Its proposed MOA is that it blockes the entery of Li into principal cells by blocking Amiloride sensitive Na epithelial channel. Best of luck
