i have been participating and reading this site for 3 years. i haave given info on residency programs outside my choice that were taking outside-eras. i have given places where i got info that was helpful for passing the usmle. then i asked one little thing about an interview at a program and i got nohng. i went to the interview and it went wel thank God. but, this was not help from anyone on his site!!!

this is selfish. we have got to be helpful without being stupid. this means we can respond to another even when there is no gain. maybe that will then go to you. i can' t tell you how upsetting it is when you have trid to get infot and then tghat same person wants somethng from you.

let 's help each other. but i am still mad so i am not saying anything about the inerviews i have had this past 2 weeks......

i agree completely with you. but chill buddy. share if you want to. dont share if you dont want to. its your personal choice.

this site is totally voluntary. since you believe in sharing, encountering people who dont shouldnt stop you from sharing.

once again, i agree completely with you. i just hope you dont go down that same route.

if you have been here for 3 years, you know that there are usually many people who answer and give opinions and help you. That's the usual thing. If that was one only question, come on. Maybe it's not a very known residency program, i don't know.
anyway, good luck and keep posting.

i understand your anger, but like dev said maybe no one has interviewed at that hosital. as for all us FMG's many of us aren't fortunate to get interviews at university hospitals, more the community hospitals.
I read your ealier posts, and you are from NYC, you live in the same state as the program, and you are mad at all FMG who are from different countries.
you have a right to be mad...for the silence to your questions, but to be mad at all FMG's when many others use this forum is unfair.

thats not the reason to get mad at "all FMG", man

come on disapproval

Hi smr: perhaps your mad will go down if you read the post about FM in NY in the FM dialogues - I don't know how to box things or I would - anyway we've been posting about not getting any IVs and not even hearing back from any pgm in NY so how to reply to your post about stony brook???? (I just searched and found what you were referring to)
No body wanted to give you wrong advice either and that actually speaks for the sincerity of people in this forum.
When people can, they help, but nobody pretends to know it all and /or gives fake advice
Thats why I keep coming back here...its genuine

hey body calm down we are all not feeling well because we are not getting interviews why are you mad at fmgs. first of all stony brook i had applied there for the last two years myself for ob/gyn noone called me or send me even rejection. they only take their own students they have their own medical school. we only answer if we know something we don;t want to answer something we don;t know. don;t take your anger on us deal with it yourself

oh i forgot if you don;t like this forum then check other ones see if you get the info you need. you can check student doctor network which is mainly amg maybe they will help you they don't even share board scores. good luck

hey bro,
If you said you have been here 3 years and gave many info...why isnt only 29 posts from you ? which mean...13 post a year. which mean 1/month. So, I guess you are not that active

i too don't post unless i have somethng that will be be helpful, or at least i think it will. that is why you don't have post from me every week. but, i can say that i have never had a respon se from anyone gibing any infortmation only asking or now in this post complianing because they don' think that i am being just!!

i don't remember all that i posted but, i can assure you that most of it was givng info that "i thought was helpful", including residency programs that were available now. so maybe i am not being fair, but it is not any easier being here in new york. all the interviews i ahve gone to have had only fmg's at them and all were from other countries/states and they tell me they have 10 and 12 interviews (twice anything is got).

as fmg's we are all in a very difficult place. some even have scores and letter that coud top any american graduate. and i know that i got frustrated and vented. but i still say my venting was justified.

as for stonybrook. there were 4 interviews. one from the director, assistnat director, pgy3 and a professor. they only asked valid questions that you would expect on any interview. ther were no trick or irrelavent quetions. they asked why fm and what can you bring to the rogram. they offered a lot of infor about the program and it was very civilized. but that was my first interview and i have no idea what to expect. i kno wfrom past post that other fmg'shad gone to this place and i just wanted an idea of how to prepare. if you look at the questions that you could be asked it can be very stressful and i suppose i let that show.

good luck to everyone and i WILL continue to give any info that i think will be helpful

smr, I understand your frustration. I have felt it more than once in this forum, seeing people reading my post and queries and nobody answering. But I also know that many people here are commited to helping. I dont think that during the three year-period you've been posting here you just gave. You also received and now, just because we didnt answer to one post of yours, you become mad at all fmgs. I think to become mad at all fmgs as you read for such an irrelevant reason, you probably were prejudiced against them even before.

wamba you are wrong!! inso many ways. i have only asked for a study partner, and that i did not receive either. also, im a fmg so how can i be prejudiced? anyway, i wish you well in this journey and if we don't agree that's fine.

thank you obgyntobe. and good luck to you. i'll keep my eye open for obgyn positions.

Got no pb with you smr. we are in the same boat. Our target is the same (the match), our "ennemies" are the same (PDs), and so are our problems (money and visa issues, a lot of stress, sacrifice and study). This is why we have to help each other in this brotherhood, to strengthen our chances of success. But when you shot at all FMGs I received a bullet without being guilty of anything.
Peace and good luck to you.

MAD AT ALL FMG´s??? I´ll tell you why we should be mad:
1. Your residency programs ask for US clinical XP, but many only take US graduates or are very expensive. If your poor you dont get into US.
2. If we are lucky enough we get observerships, but for some programs it does NOT count as USCE.
3. We can not get into residency fresh out of graduation, because we need to be ECFMG certification before match ranks for most programs which means we need Diploma, which takes forever in some countries.
4. I love research, but if I havent published anything in US journals, so Program Directors frown upon the publication. So most of us end up doing research instead of residency.
5. Some programs dont even consider IMG´s.
6. A few programs say they accept IMG´s, but also add only if we have LOR´s from their own staff, Ahhh, but they offer no electives to IMG´s. So basically they dont want us.
NEED I GO ON???? OF COURSE!!
7. California wont even let you pay for their postgraduate training letter if you dont have US Social Security number, how are we to get this if we dont live in US yet??
8. Even if we get 99 in everything we are still at a major disadvantage. IF you are from american med school ALL YOU NEED IS GOOD GRADES.
So stop the hate against us because most of work until we sweat blood and tears to get into US.

If anyone thought the tone of my post was too aggressive or strong them I´m sorry. I merely stated facts if these facts upset you, go out there and change them! I dont approve of the information jealousy some people have, but I dont blame them either and that´s my point.

you are so right juanma0 you should not be mad at fmg, because we are all in the same boat most people on this forum are fmg. you should look at student doctor network forum no one even will tell you their credentials all us grads. good luck
