i got a letter notifying me about the dates for interview BUT it did not say i was invited!!! what does it mean? is it just an FYI (for your information) or an INVITATION? i called them but noone answered so i left a message. i replied the email and got out of office reply. the waiting is killing me

The subject usually specifically syas invitation to an niterview, otherwise it is most likely a for your information letter. I know of a few schools that did this e.g. Stanford, Mt. Sinai. Hoever, you should just play it safe and give them a call. Or better yet, just email them your interview date preference list.
