Drbin,
I agree with you,
I think for the 2nd question is D 2/3. The first is is 1/20 is it because it is an AR disorder. I would have chosen B if it was by chance alone.

I want to know why the first answer is A. It looks to me that you guys got the answer wrong. Her brother had the disease that means at the very least that both of there parents have to be carriers. Thats the most common pairing. The answer for the first one is 2/3. D
I love it when someone tries to be cocky, hehe dr. bin wink(you should always be extremely careful when you use the winking smiley)

plz i think the answer must be 2/4 for the first question
as the disease start at childhood ..... this mean that the parents are healthy .... so must both of them be carrier to the gene ...

so

Aa x Aa
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AA 1/4 Aa 2/4 aa 1/4

  #11

It is definitely D in both.... the answer is in kaplan notes...
so as you said before, aa is 1/4 (as it is AR the small case is the allele with the disease, and she does NOT have the trait) so that leaves you with 3 possibilities AA, Aa, Aa, AA is not even carrier, so 2 out of 3... are her possibilities to be carrier.

am i right? smiling face

2/3 for both
