Hi folks, I am new here and want to apply step1/2 exam. I just wonder if any one can help me as i know most people here have all experience .1.should I apply through ECFMG 2. can I apply now but decide the real eligible period later as I am afraid my medical school will delay those confirmation. 3. when the eligible period time is set, how could I determine the real testing date? Thank you for all your inputs.

you can only apply thro ECFMG as a foreign med grad. yes you can apply now but once you set eligibility time, you can only change teh date within the time frame without incuring any extra bill but if you decide to cahnge the elig period, they will charge you. once you put in the application and you have an ECFMG number, then you can send your transcript to ECFMG and they will send to your college for verification. so you may not set your eligibility time until later. the test date will depend on your style of reading but generally for step 1 allow a min of 4mo prep. all the best.

thank you very much tolito. Basically I can apply ECFMG now and wait to verify my degree and get my number. Then I can set the eligible period time . Stating that time, I have to take the test otherwise I have to pay to extend my period. but how could I fix my testing date and center. Say, I got next March to May and how could I get a day to do the test? thank you very much for your response. I appreciate it.
