nope Diazepam is drug of choice in terminating grand mal epileptic seizures and status epilepticus [Refer to Lippincott Pharm 2nd ed; Page 91]

IN A STATUS EPILEPTICUS: ITīS DIAZEPAM OR LORAZEPAM, AFTER THAT, YOU GIVE PHENYTOIN, IF CONTINUES, YOU CAN GIVE PHENYTOIN AGAIN, IF CONTINUES YOU GIVE PHENOBARBITAL, IF CONTINUES YOU GIVE PHENOBARBITAL AND AT THE END IF STILL CONTINUES YOU MUST PUT THE PATIENT IN BARBITURIC COMA.
