How to close in an encounter when the Pt has MI/angina?

How to explain in lay language?

Please reply to my Qu.

i would start the closing by saying "my concerns at this time are..." and then explain it as you would to a 9 year old child. don't use words like MI or angina - but rather heart attack and phrases such as "your heart may not be getting an adequate amount of energy it needs to pump - that's why i'm going to have to suggest a few more tests - to see where we stand." BUT ALWAYS START WITH THE MORE EASIER THINGS TO HEAR FIRST. don't tell a patient they ARE having a heart attack (unless it's abundantly clear that they are). that's why we run tests - to RULE OUT things. and you have to tell the patient that you have certain ideas in your head as to what the problem may be (then list them - from the benign to the worst), and that you're going to rule things out.

good luck!
