I have applied for the programs with a need for H1B only. I have received only 2 interviews. In case I mark for J1 also in addition to H1, then would it help me getting more interviews. Then in the interview, can I try to convince them for H1 becoz my EAD is on it's way. Does this way help?

Can you try to convince a program? You can try, but if they don't offer H1b visas for a multitude of reasons, you might be wasting your money in traveling to an interview.

Hey Soujany,
What do you mean by your EAD is on the way? If you are getting an EAD (for whatever reason) you won't need a H1-B... (I mean as far as I know; howvever, i am not a immigration expert)
May I ask what your visa situation is? Are you getting a green card? I found that programs are ALWAYS VERY interested in these issues.. You better have a clean expalination for your situation...

i think she means that she will get her EAD may be in a year and doesnt want to take J1 like me.
Soujany, most programs are now "UNDER CAP" as hospitals dont want to work as not for profit anymore.Each patient they ahve to treat without insurance is a loss for them. But most programs do it. So they cant sponsor H1 at all unless you are on an OPT. it would be waste of your money and time to go to such places and ask for H1

Nice to hear from u. I haven't done any changes to my profile and am unaware why the PM couldn't reach me. The last I received a PM was 2 days ago from loser. Anyway, thanks for the reply. And yeah! I would be very happy to meet u in case it happens.
Yes, I am in the same situation as ur's. My husband's 45 day letter for labour clearance has been passed about 5 months and so we expect it to be cleared in a month or so. Then left is I-140 and I-485 which may take around next 5-6 months to be done. So need only H1.
Anyways, I have already applied long back asking for H1 and don't intend to change it. I would think about it at the next match in case I don't match this time.
