Any pros out there can help me in guiding about USMLE Step 1? ...i am in med skool abroad and will graduate in 2011...which is best time to give USMLE1 and what is the best type of prep for it(ie books, dvd, softwares)...also does anyone know of american unis(either in US or in carribean) which accept foreign transfer students who have completed USMLE1? or even before that?

wow 2011. Long long time down the road. take it easy and enjoy medical school. You dont know how the rules and regulations in US would be by then. They may not have any demand for FMGs by that time as medical school enrollment in US is increasing.

you wanna continue your med education in US? fine. As dev said we don't know how the rules will be in the future but I can surely tell you that it will be very competitive as all the world is now pointing towards US (me included, but I'm trying now, and its already tough ). But if you are committed to your dream, then you can start from now the be a very very competitive applicant. The main clue for IMGs is hands on clinical experience in the US, which is not the same as observership (coz if you just observe, you don't use hands). This makes you very competitive to PDs, especially if you associate it to high USMLE scores, as almost all IMGs do not have that.
