Indeed Maverick... For my CS, I traveled with a 21x12x8 inches suitcase, for all my personal stuff, and the garment bag with a white coat and a suit, both with me during the flight and with no problem at all.

well maverick i am considering packing light.just essentials.i,m not gonna carry a laptop.just a suit bag and a small handbag.problem is i have dinners the day before interview at most of my interviews.so thats an added problem regarding minimizing stuff. i am also considering a second back up option after i,m done interviewing at places scattered here and there and finally go down to new york where i,ll be spending 15 days.i,ll have my brother mail me other stuff there.mail is quite cheap compared to the nightmare of losing booked luggage.esp in my case coz i start my journey from miami and end in new york.

According to Katzung's tips, a briefcase is elegant and organized.

A good looking folder does work. You are already carrying a suitcase in one hand.

and as far as sharing information goes...I just lost my bags twice...yes TWICE in one week! So word of advice...if u lose ur bags Anywhere in NY area..be it NewArk, Laguardia..JFK....just wait for them and pick them up yourself, you might be at the airport a few hours more...but it's better then waiting for your suitcases for 2 days...yes I said 2 days!!!!

Hey guys: I went on some interviews this week using a carry-on bag that is also a suit bag and luggage bag all in one. It keeps suits wrinkle free pretty well. Costs around $30.00 Picked it up at Sam's Club. Made by Mundi. It is also is carryon regulation size after you roll and zip. I almost missed a flight by 5 minutes. There would have been no way my check in luggage would have gotten to me for the interview. Here is the link:http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=343571. Haven't seen anything better than this. Lifesaver. Good luck

Nice thread... 2 questions though 1) Just to clarify...If i'm carrying a garment bag + laptop tote bag then I'm left with no choice but to check in my 1 suitcase right ? I'm going on a multi city trip for 2 for my interviews so can't pack light. 2) In your epxerience (and from what you've heard) which carriers are notorious for losing luggage?

okay i had same query what i did was i went to tjmaxx store and bought suitbag which can easily carry 1 suit, 1 overcoat ..and it also has option to store other garments behing the suit bag where i easily stored one notepad portfolio, one trouser and shirt ,tie and thankyou cards...But unfortunately i need to check in this bag coz it weighs more bt believe me size is of cabbin bag and i am also going to carry one hand bag which has my jeans and tshirts, shoes, documents, snacks, mp3, nightdress.....this is hand bag which i can put on the top of suit bag so that i can drag both with one hand as suit bag is horizontal... and ofcourse one laptop bag with me hope you understood...

i bought that bag from tj maxx for 100$ but believe me its worth it coz you can store many garments and moreover it has wheels too easy to carry...
