a 25y man, multiple small nodules on his lips. exam he has a marfanoid habitus. Bx one of these nodules shows a mucosal neuroma. which screening test is indicated?

The patient looks like MEN2B syndrome and you have to find if he has medullary cell carcinoma (C cell derivative cancer) as well.The pentagastrin-stimulated calcitonin is the test of choice in this case.

exactly.....this pt seems to hv MEN 2b variant..which comprises of pheochromocytoma,medullary carcinoma,neuromas involving lips,marfinoid body habitus....since medullary ca arises from parafollicular cells which releases calcitonIn..thtz y we ll order pentagastrin stimulated calcitonin....corect answer is A
