29. A 47 y/o man has had a headache and blurred vision for the past 2 weeks. He also notes generalized itching, especially after bathing. Physical exam is remarkable for plethoric facies, adn splenomegaly. A CBC shows:

Leukocyte count: 3200/mm3
Hemoglogin: 22 g/dL
Hematocrit: 66%
Platelets: 420,000/mm3

Which of the above lab values are abnormal and help with the diagnosis?
WHat is the diagnosis:

What is the most likely complication of this condition?

A. Hematologic malignancy
B. Increased bleeding tendancy
C. Renal Insufficiency
D. Sepsis
E. Vascular Sludging

A.......Polycythemia............AML is the complication..and the death is MC due to thrombosis or hemorrhage

I think you will see vascular slugding more frequentlyl than AML; that's why E is better answer.
