diffuse multinodular goitre doesnot show significant risk of malignancy.

hmm...
the most common causative factor for carcinomas of the thyroid is'radiation' to the head and neck areas.
diffuse simple goitre poses no risk for developing cancer...
but multinodular goitre has 8 to 10% risk for developing into follicular carcinoma of the thyroid...
...hashimoto's thyroiditis is another condition that can predispose to thyroid carcinoma...just thought i might add. smiling face

but it seems it has less chances to turn malignant...i.e rarely it does.
