Gave my CS exam recently,
Missed CNS exam in 3 cases,
called SP wrong name in one ,corrected myself immediatly though not before patient pointed it out.
did optlmscpy in 1/3 cases never wrote it in PN.
rest of cases were fine did reasonable closure and all ......
Will I pass, this is my 2nd attempt. what do you think ?.
For the first timers some advice
use FA and UW its enough
Practice practice and more practice.
the complete test with simulation of PN also as u should not make mistakes like I did with the OPThlmscopy.
Go thro all the DDx and mnemonics made by digital doc, http://csprotocol.blogspot.com/
more importantly practice with the mnemonics and practice PN writeing with cases.

Wish you the best of luck.
I will take CS in January at LA. I am nervous about the test, especially the counselling cases. I was told that there are a few cases only for counselling. Is that true in your test?
Do you have some weird cases in your test?

Hi xwxf
Well closure has to be done in all cases, ie patn education of diagnosis tests and counselling of HIV test smokeing, alcohol(etoh) and drug interactions etc hyptn check up folowup adverse effects .
For example u may get a case in which u may have to say that u r haveing menopausal symptoms but it is debatable for you to take HRT due to family h/o of breast disease etc.
do FA and UW well, hope i have answered your question.
luckily for me no weird cases , be carefull though some of the SP may act a little irritated or funny just like real life patients so be mentally prepaRED ,BE POLITE AND KNOW WHAT TO SAY TO SUCH SCENARIOS.

Hi xwxf...!!!let me give you some advise if you are for this match and also if you are confident with your english skill, try to take this test before december 31th , would be better for you... On the other hand all the case are from the FA at least most of them,beside FA ,you have to study shoulder pain, enuresis and phone case.....good luck!!!!!

Thanks whiterabbit, I plan to read FA and UW 2-3 times and practise about 30 cases with a partner. Do you have any suggestion on my plan? As for the counselling, did you just prepare for the sentences by yourself? I am looking for these sentences since English is not my native language. Could you recommend some resourse I can look at?
Canterov2004, thanks for your suggestion. I couldn't find any slot available before Dec31. And I am not confident about my English. I left a question in your post yesterday, could you please look at it?

listen carefully ,dear xwxf, if you want to take before december 31....dont worry ,just study hard....and finish it before december 31, always there are slots available...only is nesessary that you check up the usmle step 2 cs sheduling every day , every time...!!!.dond't worry about it...

i too took my CS exam recently and though it went well an unfortunate thing happened-- i toook extra time(seconds) to come out of the room after the last call in the first three cases and they have reported my case to the USMLE people... do u have any iea what van be the consequences of this? i mean do i stand a chance to pass or would i be disqualified? i am really worried.. please reply

I took my cs last week and in 1 case they had to open the door to ask me come out, by then I have done my entire case and ready to come out, Proctor didn't say anything to me after that, no indication that she would report to USMLE? Do you think I need to be concerned about this?
Also, I am expecting the My result be back by Jan (maybe end of Jan, depends on my luck), is there a chance for me to match this year? I feel very down today after a program I applied told me that they have not considered my application since I am not certified by ECFMG.

I am sure you will pass...you are going to receive yor CS result on january 31th.That means you will be certificated before the match
