Dear bbb,

Firstly, I'd like to thank you so much for your help on this forum. You've been a great help to me, just by reading your informative posts and replies to other people. I hate to take more of your time away, but I do have a small question that I hope you don't need much time to answer.

The thing is, is that I'm applying for a Prelim IM or TY PGY1... I haven't heard much from anyone, but since I went through the match last year, I gathered that somehow the PGY1 and PGY2 "sync".... What I mean is, I didn't get a Rad spot last year because I didn't get a PGY1, and during the scramble, my Rad spot was forfeited and I didn't get a PGY1 spot because of it (the rad dept. didn't wait a few days for me to sufficiently scramble).

So, my question is: Do the programs see how many interviews the applicant has or do they see somehow that the person is "on hold" at other places? In other words, do the PGY1 programs see if I have a PGY2 interview?

I appreciate your help so much, bbb! It has really made me more knowledgeable about this awful process.

Thank you again,

spebeeto

I can't see any activity on the application other than what's in my program. Not even other programs at my hospital.

Hope this helps.

BBB and Spebeeto,

WOuld you mind answering me a question: Can I apply for Prelim IM or TY PGY1 only? Or should I apply for specilaty at teh same time?

How hard to get into Prelim IM or TY PGY1, compared to caregorical IM?

Is greencard a must? Any graduation year limitation?

Thanks a lot.
