well actually it is acting out. acting out is showing your anger. and frustration. or both of them . not quiet at the person or situation who has caused the anger. in a different setup. (dont get confused with displacement. all the other three , somatization, regression and splitting are very common in histrionic personality disorder. a very good example of histrionic personality disorder is marlyn monroe. i hate to dropnames, but , to think of it, elizabeth taylor is also a very good example of histrionic personality disorder. it is actually advantageous to have this, if you want to be a succesful actress!!. dramatic, seductive, and showing emotion all the time!!
borderline personality disorder is associated with splitting allright, but so is histrionic personality disorder!!

how are you relating somatization with this case ?Can you explain.

you dont need to have all the clinical features of a particular syndrome to make a diagnosis , my friend.it is commonly observed that persons with personality disorder also protray somatization also as one of the defenses. we all display ego-defenses. that is how we get through the day! that is how we cope!! only when the severity is more, they are considered pathological.and impair our daily functioning. in this particular clinical vignette , the subject does not show the somatization.
