HI everybody! I really need ur advice.actually i have completed 2steps.AND i was planning to apply for residency in 2008..but unfortunately I hv got very very bad scores.80/75/pass(1/ck/cs)i m on L2 visa and gratuate from 2004. i dont know whether people with such score can get any iv.is there any hope for me.i want to apply for family practice nd pediatrics.shall i go ahead and apply or shall i go back to my home country.i really feel depressed ,cant decide what to do? please guys,i really need ur honest opinion.i also heard that people on L2 visa dont require h1 or j1,is this true? please help me.

I would suggest you apply, since you have nothing to lose except for time and money... Also, yes you can work on an L-2 , however you might want to apply for an EAD, too. It's not neccessary but it might make programs feel safer. Make sure your L-2 will not expire during your training period either... (apply for GC early!) I hope this helps, Mufurc

I have a question on the similar subject. I will take the step 2 at the end of November and receive the result in late December. Most programs close receiving applications by the end of November or December. My question is this; Should I go ahead and apply some programs with Step 2 result pending? This way at least, I am thinking, I can be on the list to be considered and be put on hold. Or should I wait for the result of Step 2 and get ECFMG certification before applying? Thanks for advice.
