Hello All,

Call me stupid....i'm relatively new to this whole lot of process.....my problem is... I applied pretty late..but luckily got some interview offers from avg community programs...consequently, i dont have luxury of choice to schedule interview dates as i wish....instead i accepted their offered dates....so, my interview schedule is in no particular order.
some "better" programs are scheduled late in the interview season. so, my question is.....what if i am lucky enough to get a pre-match offer from a program that i dont like that much early in the season? Am i supposed to withdraw from the match and cancel all the rest calls? Am i supposed to sign the contract right away?
Thanks for reading my post and sorry for my stupid questions.

Ask the program if they will rank you if you decide going to the match. Tell them you like their program but you feel more comfortable that way.
If they offered a pre-match, They will rank you for sure.
Then you will have the opportunity to interview and decide the best for you.

If you are offered and accept a prematch, you are supposed to withdraw from the match. Then cancel the rest of your interviews. Contract could be offered at that time, or just a letter stating that you have been offered and accepted a position.

Following that, relax, enjoy.

this is where it gets tricky. just because they offer you a prematch it doesnt mean they will rank you if u reject their offer. i had a friend who got offered a prematch from university X, he rejected it and ranked uni X 3rd on his ROL. when he went to the match, he matched at his 4th choice. he hated that place, but lucky for him he transfered to a great uni program in pgy 2.

two explanations for his situation:
a) uni X did rank him but down the list and all their positions were filled up by people above him in their ranking.
b) uni X didnt rank him at all.

so see how much youre willing to gamble for your residency spot! grin

um....by that you mean.. though they offer me a pre-match and i dont accept right away, there's no guarantee that they will rank me in the match?
maybe, i'm too stupid to play that match game.confused

No, if they offer a prematch and you decide that you would rather go through the match. That's what Dhjarma means.
