hi everyone,
how do we a counsel a working mother, who comes for a consultation of her sick baby.
she tells u that all her friends tell her that she is not a good mother.
she is depressed.
how do we counsel her during SP encounter.

Tell her, you are a good mother and you care about your child, because you did the right thing to come here to have your child visited by the doctor and I will do my best to your baby for sure.
She is expecting this answer and when you see that she is nodding you get your score.

You may also offer a letter to the employer stating a reason for the leave for a day if she needs one to take care of her baby or come to hospital.......lot of working mothers cannot take off from pesky bosses. Also you hould ask if she has any problems in getting the child in because of her busy work schedule, you can offer your nurse to have pick up the baby or arrange a meeting with a social worker to have him brought to the hospital......I guess that should wrap it up and she would be pretty happy.
