A woman who is Rh- delivered a baby who is Rh+ mother is given anti-Rh post partum. During her 2nd pregnancy, she is screened each trimester for Rh antibody, at 3rd trimester, there is presence of anti-Rh antibody in her serum. what is the mechnism: A.anamnestic production of maternal anti-Rh immunoglobulin B.intrauterine transplacental fetal maternal hemorrhage during the 2nd pregnancy. c.residual circulating antiRh d.transplacental passage of fetal IgG anti-Rh antibody.

I think the correct answer is B. Anti - Rhesus antibodies can only be produced during the second pregnancy, because after the first pregnancy she received RhoGAM.

she should hv been given rhoGAM again during her 2nd pregnancy by the end of 2nd trimester! agree with B

the Rh antigen will cross the placenta in the 3rd trimester since the trophoblast will not be a barrier anymore.... why isn't A, is the fetal maternal hemorrhage nessasary in the process?
