My spouse is a permanent resident and has filed for a greencard for me. My question is, how long does it take for me to get an EAD (work authorisation permit)? I will appreciate your inputs in these matter, as it would give me an idea how to proceed with applications. Thanks in advance.

Check with your assigned immigration office - they should be able to give you a guideline. Thanks

It usually takes about 6 month... (as far as I know) You can check the status of your application at USCIS here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis Good luck! Mufurc

It may also depend on the area in which you live. The more immigrants in that area, the longer it may take because they have more applications to process. But in general, I agree, it may take 3-6months to get an EAD once your application for perm. residency is filed. Try not to worry over it too much though because once your application is turned in, there's really not much you can do to speed up the process.
