can somebody please explain the managment after finding a solitary thyroid nodule on physical examination?

TFT , i think , or may be a thyroid scan to find out the nature of soli nodule , i.e , hot or cold nodule

Thyroid Nodule - 1st step - TSH, 2nd step USG -to see cystic or solid
if Cystic - do FNA
if Solid - less then 3 cm - FNA - if +ve - Thyroid harmone replacement
more then 3 cm - Needle Biopsy - if +ve - Surgery, if -ve - Thyroid Harmone

Thyroid Nodule - pathology - indeterminate, values normal - Do RAIU to see if it is
Hot - if no hyperthyroid sign -- just leave it
Cold - Malignant - Surgery

I think this is pretty much I have in mind at this moment !
Give you definite 1 point in the exam with this flowcharting wink

i didn get this step. can u please explain it.why thyroid hormone replace ment?

Thyroid hormones will shut off the pituitary gland release of TSH, decrease TSH stimulation of the thyroid gland, and decrease the size of the nodule.
