Why is there increase ESR in temporal arteritis?

yes...

I think it's because there is an increase in acute phase reactants (alpha 2 proteins) which are positive charged and decrease the negative charge of the RBC membrane, producing a decrease in the repel of the RBC with each other => increase ESR
