procainamide is an Class I A antiarrhytmic used for vetricular tachyarrhythmias not controlled by lidocaine and atrial fibrillation/ flutter.
Blocks Na channel, depresses conduction, depresses cardiac excitability, slow conduction in Sa node, increases effective refractory period
most notable side effect is SLE like syndrome, also torsades de pointes
