Yasmeen, I agree with you on the Drug of Choice for Hypertension in pregnancy it would be wrong to say that Methyldopa or Labetolol is the first drug...they both are first line , it's only the acceptence of methyldopa over years that has made it the DOC. the question is , do you think we should treat Celine tin dion with antihypertensives at this moment of time .....be it Methyldopa , labetolol or whatever !

and Sheena As I wrote earlier , " IM Magnesium Sulphate is generally used for the prevention and treatment of seizures. In this patient however it should be used during labor and within 24 hours of delivery, and yes, in patient with severe form of eclampsia is is supposed to be used from the admission and carreied on until 24 hours after the delivery of a beautiful baby "

Yes, sheena The answer is - E -Steroids and Salt reduced diet In mild preeclampsia, like in this patient, if the pregnancy is Remote From Term and / or fetal lungs are not mature yet, the patient is managed with bed rest, salt reduced diet and close observation. Dexamethasone between the 24th and 34th week of gestation to accelerate lung maturity shld be considered, then once fetal lung maturity is ascertained , delivery has to be carried out. such patients are counseled regarding the sign of deterioration and then discharged home with the condition of more frequent visits. SCI.AFTAB , Reason for not giving Mg and antihypertensives are cited above, but that doesn't mean that you should follow the protocol/ principal, follow your gut feeling...and do what You think is correct for Your patients Good Luck Cheers

I think the answer is A. Pte has preeclampsia with HA and mild edema. rest exam should be consider normal as part of pregnancy. Baby is doing well. I think this is mild preeclampsia that can be follow by controling with diet.
