hi all,

sorry for my late reply. i have actually been in a state of shock since i got the scores. it was too unbelievable for me. i have been looking at the sheet just to confirm the figures. also it has been a hectic weekend for me.

kaplan is enough especially for recent graduates. however, i read cardiology like 5 times. other sections like 4 times...infectious diseases, respiratory, renal. i did like 3x for endo, psych. i spent more time studying int medicine and read the others only 2x. i also reviewed step 1 material along the way esp immunology and pathology. ( there is also a resource i used which i cannot indicate here but it was extremely useful)

srik, one read is inadequate. you will be amazed how much you have forgotten so just put in a little more effort and read thro at least 3x for int medicine.

goodyear, i did an average of 10hrs a day. in the last 2 weeks, i probably put in like 10 -14hrs a day cos i did not take any afternoon naps. i spent about 4hrs in the lab and slept for just 6hrs at night. i had to drink mountain dew ( 2 cans per day) and then diazepam 10mg at night. i was a junkie. i needed an upper to keep me awake and alert and a downer to help me sleep. there was just no other way. i thank God it was not cocaine i used.

i decided to make this 'short and sweet' going by my step 1 experience. i took too long studying for step 1 and in the last couple of months, i realised my folly. i had forgottne much of what i read earlier on. so i decided i would give it my all in a short time. my memory is not as good as it used to be so i needed to rely on short recall. that is why i cut the total studying period short.

i have put in my applications for the match. i have not got a rejection letter yet but no interviews either. i applied for orthopedics and i keep praying for a good match.

i just want to say to all that the exam is doable. dont be hasty with your answers. look again at the question stem for anything that may negate your choice. if there is nothing there, then you can confidently click it. if you find something that may appear to contradict your choice, then go over all the other choices to see if there is a better one. if there is no better option, then click it. this is a differnet strategy from step 1 where the answers are obvious. with step 2, it is a judgement call. in short, the answers are not obvious. be very wary of the first answer that jumps at you. it is more likely to be wrong than right. some people said they did nto have a hard time with time management but i tell you i was 1 min short at the last block. ( i had taken a longer break between blocks 4 and 5). i used up every single min per block cos of this strategy of double checking.

some of us are more brilliant and they know it and so the questions are not tough but most of us need to deliberate and not make our choices lightyly.

once again, i wish you all the best of luck.

thanks everyone... it's been an anticlimax for me. i took cs a week ago. it was ok. i am now suffering from OCD. i have to take a look at my emails and ERAS almost every minute. i am awaiting interview iv's. i did apply late but i am hopeful. i wish you all the best too just as much as you wish me. i will stubbornly wait till the very last moment cos i believe my position is somewhere there.
