you are invited to post the most rude and the most nice rejection letter you received ( you can post more than one) for me the most rude so far was this

from henry ford hospital

Thank you for your interest in our General Surgery Training Program. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application materials, we do not find sufficient merit to grant you an interview. Please understand that this decision is final and not subject to review. We wish you the best of luck in future endeavors. Thank you for your interest

although all of the "thanks " they wrote the phrase "after reviewing your application materials, we do not find sufficient merit to grant you an interview"

suggest that your don't even deserve to have an interview even if no one else applied

the most nice was from drexel / hanhmann

Thank you for your interest in the Drexel University College of
Medicine
Department of Surgery. We have reviewed your application and due to the
high
number of applicants this year we are unable to offer you an interview
at this
time. Good Luck with your application process.

at least this one suggest you are a good applicant but they can't meet every one.

go a head and post yours

today I was rejected by preliminary surg of harlem as well. strange thing that I thought I wouldn't go to its interview because the program has a very bad reputation because of its location in the legendary poverty, addiction and crime filled harlem . there is even a lengthy topic here in this forum about how bad is it as a hospital and as a neighborhood.

but even though I wasn't going anyway I felt humiliated since even the programs I thought is not good enough for me rejected me

On the other hand there rejection letter was extremely nice, it containd alot about how great I am and how would they like to meet me but they can't because of the high number of candidates. may be every one decided to apply to harlem as a safty program

Common guys have some since of humor and post yours

Here is one of the staranges rejections, I had to find out from the email address which hospital it came from...

"Thank you for your interest in our program, however we have decided not
to
offer you a interview with our program. We wish you the well in your
endeavors."

Here is quite nice one:

"Thank you for your interest in the Preliminary Internal Medicine
Program with
Kaiser Permanente. This year we received over 600 great applications
for only
7 preliminary training positions. Unfortunately, time and resources
prevent us
from interviewing every candidate that applies.

Your file was thoroughly reviewed, however it was not among those
selected for
interview at this time. We appreciate your interest and wish you the
very best
during the interview season and upcoming match.

Sincerely,

Another nice:

"Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency at Santa
Barbara Cottage Hospital. Unfortunately, due to an overwhelming number
of
applications we are not able to offer interviews to many well-qualified
applicants. Based upon a review of your application, combined with our
previous experience with the Match, we have determined that we will not
be
able to invite you for an interview. We regret any disappointment or
hard
feelings this decision may engender.

Sincerely,"

The meanest rejection was from Henry Ford with "lack of merit" it posted above by mohelgamal

I have my share of rejection, but they mostly nice....

Here is a nice one ---

Dear Applicant:

We regret that we cannot offer you an interview for the Boston Combined
Residency Program. The screening is a rigorous, thoughtful and a comprehensive
process, emphasizing fairness above all else. The large applicant pool (nearly
1100 applications) and the limited number of available places in the program
require us to make many difficult decisions.

Please know that we wish you well and that we are sorry to send this news to
you.

Sincerely,

Drs. Sam Lux and Sig Kharasch
Boston Combined Residency Program

This one was very nice... a rejection is a rejection, but this one was so sweet that I almost cryed..gringringrin

Enjoy!!

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your recent application for our training program in Internal
Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As with many other
Internal Medicine training programs in university hospitals, we have
experienced a continuing increase in the number of well-qualified applicants.
Although this has been a gratifying response, our commitment to thorough and
extensive review of each applicant has resulted in expanding time commitments
on the part of our housestaff and faculty. Furthermore, we have become aware
of the significant hardship in terms of time and money that the interview
process has created for many applicants. For these reasons, first-year
residency applicant interviews are held by invitation following a thorough
review of the completed application form with supporting letters.

After a careful review of your application, we feel that an interview would
cause an unnecessary expenditure of your time and resources. Because of the
large volume of applications we have received, we feel that your relative
chance of being selected in our program is low. Because of this, and because
we want to be fair and honest with all applicants, it would not be in your
best interest to pursue an interview at this particular time.

We thank you again for your interest in our program. We are sorry that our
current limitation on number of available residency positions limits the
number of applicants we can consider for our program. Best of luck to you as
you pursue your medical career.

Sincerely,
Internal Medicine Education Committee
University of Nebraska Medical Center

I got this rejection letter frm an Illinois prog. I've met all their criteria... in terms of scores, visa issues, recent graduate, has USCE...so i thought this might not be an appropriate letter to send for candidates who have matched their criteria.

"Thank you for your interest in the categorical internal medicine program at
xxxxxx xxxxxx University School of Medicine. Your application has been
reviewed; I regret to inform you that we cannot offer you an interview. Many
times this is based on the visa type the applicant has requested -- we do not
accept residents needing the H1 or J1 visa. In addition we prefer applicants
who have graduated within the past 5 years and have first-time USMLE scores in
the mid-eighties. Passing the CS exam on the first attempt is also strongly
preferred. Again, thank you for your interest in our program."

anyways i'm glad they sent a rej letter...not creating any false hopes

This one is also good.
This year, due to the large number of appliations we have received, we have had to be very firm with our requirements, thus eliminating many excellent applicants. You can find a link to our requirments at www.med.miami.edu/psychiatry.

In light of this, we are sorry to inform you that you were not selected to interview for psychiatry at UM/JMH this year.

Sincerely,

The most nice rejection :

Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program
at Henry Ford Hospital. Given the large number of applicants who apply to
our program, it is not possible for us to interview everyone.

The Selection Committee has carefully reviewed your application. Based
on this information, regretfully, it is not possible for us to offer you an
interview. We want to emphasize that from the information we have received, it is clear that many people think very highly of your capabilities and potential, and we sincerely trust that our decision will not discourage you in your pursuit of a career in Internal Medicine. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications received, we are unable to give personalized answers as to why your application was not chosen for an interview.

We wish you every success in your search for a residency position.
Department of Internal Medicine
Henry Ford Hospital

my worst rejection was from Drexel - something like, sorry, you do not have credentials worthy of an interview or a position at our program.

that one hurt....

this one:

The Selection Committee of the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency has
reviewed your application and has decided not to invite you for an interview.
It is the policy of the Residency Program not to give specific details as to
why the Committee has not granted you an interview.

We wish you the best of luck in your search for a residency position.

Sincerely,
Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency

.... this pgm sends invitations by snail mail (ie US postal service), and send rej by emails.. what a pgm!!!

dont know to whether to cry being rejected or to smile to get a nice rej letter:

Dear Applicant:

The Review Committee has carefully considered your application and has concluded with regret that it cannot offer you an interview for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

We expect more than 5,000 candidates to compete for an interview, which means the committee must make difficult choices. The complex decisions that this situation requires make the committee's task a difficult one. No matter which interview criteria are relied upon, the vast majority of applicants, most of whom are qualified must be denied interview.

We do hope you understand that this unfavorable decision is in no way a reflection of your abilities, motivation, or capacity to make a significant contribution either to our residency program or to the medical profession.

We are appreciative of and flattered by the interest an applicant such as yourself has shown in completing your training at our hospital, and behalf of Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Jacobi Medical Center I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

Dear Applicant:

Our House Staff Committee has considered your application for a SURG I position beginning July 1, 2007. Our screening procedure involves a thorough review of the applicant's record and letters of recommendation. From among the many hundred applications we receive, we invite only a small number of candidates to interview for the 7 categorical, and 8 designated preliminary positions in our program.

In view of the very high competitive pool of candidates this year, we are sorry to inform you that you are not invited for a personal interview. We wish our training program were large enough to accommodate all the deserving candidates.

We wish you success in your future plans.

Sincerely yours,

Department of Surgery
New York Presbyterian Hospital
Columbia Campus

After reading this one, I really felt tempted to send a FWD to Henry Ford surg. program... to teach them some manners.

one more rude way to buzz off anybody : St. Vincent's Hospital this time:

"we have received >2900 applications for 14 positions and so we regret to inform you that we will not be reviewing your application"..etc.

come on guys...i thought programs atleast were compelled to look at applications if you applied!!!

this is ridiculous!

Another good rejection letter
Dear Applicant to WPIC

Thank you for your interest in this program. We have reviewed your application.

It is a pleasure to review so many excellent applications from so many outstanding candidates. Unfortunately we can only offer an interview to less than one fifth of those who apply.

As you are aware this program is highly competitive and receives hundreds of applications for 13 slots.

I am afraid that on this occasion we are not in a position to be able to offer you an interview. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we are unable to give individual feedback on your application.

I know this may come as a disappointment to you but hope that you have an excellent forthcoming Holiday Season and 2007.

May I take this opportunity to wish you the best of luck with your other applications and interviews.

Take care

I thought this was really rude considering it was sent without downloading my application!

Thank you for your interest in us as a site for
your residency training. Following review of all the applications, our committee has determined that we will not be offering you an interview

  #18

wow they didn't even download your application.

well, I have about 3 rejections so far from places which explixitly have refused to review my application - just because they are so constipated with applicants!!

Wish I could have applied earlier!!!

I dont know if the early bird gets the worm or not...but the early applicant definately seems to grab the interview!!

You speak truly.

So program deadlines are just on paper looks like.

  #21

I don't now but I think that eras should give each applicant like one line mentioning his credentials in short something like my own signature.

The most rude:
Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at
Cleveland Clinic Florida. The department has reviewed your application and has
decided not to invite you for an interview.

  #25

Your application has been received and reviewed. At the present time you were not selected for an interview. Thank you for applying to our program.

now this took the cake...i did not even know who they were...really had to look at the e-mail address for a couple of minutes...
