I was asked to present a case which was not on my CV or personal statement. I just presented a case which had a little diagnostic challenge. Another attending asked me my viewpoint on the case presented n the morning report.

Hi....thanks for the information. How can we search some good cases? do we really have to present the cases which we encountered during our rotations? Or can we make up a case? If so is there any way to make a case?

mAN very few cases in day to day practice are interesting...recall any decent case you saw in your rotation and spruce up the story a bit to make its interesting...A good movie director can make a dull story look thrilling in a movie...be that director...

I just learnt this a few days ago, but the key to presenting an 'interesting case' is to start with a history and PE and come up with a list of differentials. then eliminate all the other differentials based on the history, physical examinations or investigations. If there were investigations you could have done but didn't do because of the limited resources from where you are from- you can state that too (It makes for good conversation). It can be - an unusual presentation of a common disease or an uncommmon disease that you talk about. BUt how you talk about it is most important. there needs to be a 'logical reasoning' aspect of it.
