Q that asks for the mgt of a pt. who developed liver failure, w/ major depression resistant to TAD, hx. of suicide attempt by ingestion of acetaminophen. Will you do liver transplant?
yor input is appreciated. saw this q in nbme f 1.

As far as I know the contraindications of a liver transplant r
-Extra hepatic malignancy
-Liver metastasis
-Extra hepatic organ failiure
-Noncompliance
-'Active' substance abuse
-AIDS
None is been indicated in this question,I mean can we take the acetamenophen ingestion as active substance abuse?..so there is no reason to withhold transplant..Plese let me know the answer.
