Hi: this is my friend situation
graduated in 1999 with highest honors. residency and chief residency in home country. came to US in 2003 and did surgical fellowship in laparoscopy for two years with many publications and abstracts. visiting surgeon in CANADA and Europe.
currently preliminary PGY1 in surgery in very good university. excellent LORs
he hasnt applied as his schedule is very tough and was hoping to get a PGY2 or 3 position elsewhere.
his problem is poor USMLE scores and need visa.
Please answer where can he find open PGY2+ positions and how to go about this year's match?

sorry not sure about pgy 2 spots, his best bet maybe where he is doing his pgy1 i assume.
