Hey Ppl,
Tried to read some info about transgenic/knockout mice (because I heard it is a very HY topic) on line but couldn't really find a decent site where it describes the gist. I don't have the new KApalan LN so I am not sure if they updated any info regarding the topic. Anywaz, my quesitons are
1)Does transgenic mice ultimately end up as knockout mice? From what I understand, the gene of interest is introduced into the transgenic mice; whether the gene is functional or not, the subsquent generations will have homozygous strains that contain the gene of interest. Is this how it works? What is the significance?
2) I understand the steps needed to introduce the gene into the mice, aynthing else I need to focus on.
Million thx in advance
