I heard Ophthalmology is becoming less competitive. What is the way to Oph residency? What kind of previous experience you need to have in order to get it, since the programs require it. thanks,

Mihazor Who told you that? I don't think ophthalmology is less competitive, I think quite the oppositte. This year the hospital I work at recieved 328 applications for 3 spots - it is 109 people for 1 spot, seems to me as very competitive. If you want to do it anyways, besides scores over 95, you need at least 1 year of hand on experience in US ophthalmology hospital, and preferably some publications in US journals. Oh, yes, if you are IMG, you should have your ophtho residency competed in your country... And these programs usually do not sponsor any visas. I know all this becasue I was thinking about this speciality myself for a while.... cheers

1- Sell the soul to the devil 2- Marry the daughter of the chairmen 3- get 99/99 1 year of usce in ophtalmology 4- have several publications on OPHTALMOLOGY 5- Have several CME in ophtalmology Then you have 50% of getting inn. Based on what I have heard, extremly hard.
