Hi in Lippincott 2nd ed; page 77, they have listed acebutolol first as selective beta 1 antagonist & then in next paragraph as antagonists with partial agonist describing it as not a pure blocker but ability to stimulate both beta1 and beta2 receptors with ISA please can anyone make this clear for me :?

Acebutolol is a B1 agonist, but it's also a partial agonist at the beta receptor meaning that it slightly stimulates at the beta receptor. This property ensures that some degree of stimulation of beta-receptors is maintained. As I remember reading, under conditions of rest this tends to balance the negative chronotropic and negative inotropic effects.
