you can't have better creds than "on hand USCE" which you can only get if you match this year

agree ith wamb.. 1 year of USCE is better.. if you dont like your program, you can try next yr with on year of training on your CV.. just find a reason for switching programs... or go for prelim 1 yrs

Try this year, who knows what happen next year. Lots of new applicants apply every year. Secure your place this year, if you don't like it, change it. You have good credentials.

If one has to change residency position then he will have to attend ivs again next yr and most of vaccations will be spent in that, no time to go home. What will the first PD think when we give him first shock in two months from joining as will have to reapply in september next yr Will he give a good LOR.Hence dont u think it is better to try to improve creds and get residency at a good place next yr then a bad one this yr and change next yr.

well, tough choice harry.. i blv more in today and what I can achieve today rather than waiting for what might come tomorrow.... If I am to think about next yrs match for myself, I would think that I will be one year away from graduation, +/- hands on USCE (if lucky ), another year of joblessness and another big investment next year....BUT thats how I think.. You have to make these decisions on your own... ppl on this forum can give their views only... which view is right, wrong, better , worse.. thats your choice.. You are young and have better credentials and if you have no visa issues to live in US.. then all the best with Option 2... GL with your decision

Hi, as I told you before, i would choose the second option. and as Moozy told you - everyone here tells you his/her best opinion which is based on his/her age, knowledge, experiences, expectations, visa status, money in the vallet, ................ I'm an old graduate, and some ppl in forum is much more younger than me. I sometimes don't see why someone is in a hurry. I don't know your situation - if you need visa or not, if you live in USA or not, if you need money asap or you have some support from your family, if there is a gap in your clinical experience.....and many many other issues which are impt in making the decision. as for me - i would wait for the next matching, try to get as high score as possible on step2CK, then will take step3 and try to get an observeship. I'd be prepared better in this way than when applying right now. I'd have high score and usce, too. This is my way how i think and how i live. and as i told you before - my decision depends on my situation. You would have to make your decision based on your situation, visa status, money,...etc. GL.
