hi all usmleworld says -d xylose absorption is abnormal in both bacterial overgrowth and whipples disease, however with bacterial overgrowth the test becomes normal after antibiotic treatment my doubt is, a case of whipples is usually treated with antibiotics right?, so the test should become normal after rx in case of whipples also, so how to differentiate whipples and bacterial overgrowth??? ??? anybody out there , please shed some light on this:no:

6 months to a year treatment needed for whipples so a short course of antibiotics doesn't have an effect on the condition.
