Do Prelim. programs offer H1b visa or is it rare for prelims. to sponsor it?

Pretty rare, we don't do it unless the following program is: a. At our hospital. and b. willing to do the paperwork and costs involved.

Good luck.

bbb what is your experience of poor people who gets prelim positions with J1 and unable to find pgy2 position next year. Do you ever see them again or they just get vanished.

I am saying this because I am reading concern by many people that once you are on J1 for prelim, you have to apply for pgy2 position because if you apply for pgy1 categ. position next year you are not progressing and hence not suitable for J1 visa again. Becuase you had J1 last year you cannot have H1b. This whole think looks fishy and I dont know what is the truth?

If you accept a preliminary spot, you will have to go through it again. It's not fishy - you know it in advance. Programs may not be able to offer you a second year position.
