Did anyone hear from them? How is the program? I know that Camden, NJ has the highest crime rate in the US but not much about the program. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Hi drhouston. I have a lot of friends in Cooper. Eventhough it is a good program and they get a lot of experience and teaching the thing is that you cannot get a fellowship outside this hopspital if you want to...But you can get one inside if your hardworking.

Hi, i did an observership there this year and i thought it was a really good program, the comarderie amongst the residents was really good, teaching i thought was of a pretty high standard..and the hosp itself was really nice....regarding the area, true camden has a bad reputation, but there are many areas to live in within a 20 min redius, i was living in a very nice area, excellant school system, the works and for a while i used to drive to cooper and it would take me about 26mins to get there, later on i started to take the train, and that was only a 15 min ride, plus that the train station is a one block walk from the hospital...Never had a problem, nor did any of the other observers, or residents for that matter...Honestly if i came within their criteria i would have applied to them....I think its great the u have an interview there, its a really good program, lots of oppertunity, saw many fellowship oppertunities....So dont let anyone put u off until u go there..I have had a month there with the internal medicine residency program, and i really liked it...

few places where we have applied for are surely unsafe and the hospital authorities also know that. so this is what i got to know from my seniors...as you are in the hospital , its the hospital respnsibility to look after your safety... like they porvide people to escort you safely into the car and few hospitals also have shuttle services to and fro from your place to the hospital...
