Thyroid 1 Ask patient to swallow and observe 2 Stand on one side in front of sitting patn and place both hands on the thyroid, use one hand to push thyrd to the other hand rpt with other side. 3 Get behind patn and palpate , ask patn to swallow Cervical LN 1 stand to one side in front of sitting patn, palpate with one hand and place other hand pn patns head to steady the head. Please please comment and correct me if wrong I have my doubts on the cervical LyN palpation should we stand behind patient ?. Ditto with clavicular and axillary stand in front use one hand on one side while other hand staedys patient For axillary one should also support arm of concerned axilla with our other hand.

The best way to save time in thyroid and lymph nodes examination is to palpate the neck in front of the patient. Many people, including me, probably were taught that the best way to palpate the thyroid is from behind. But I read in a physical examination book that it is ok to do it in front also.
