I think I have relaxed enough post step 2 and should be start preparation for step 3.

Available materials with me: Kaplan notes (2 ck and 3), swanson's, crush step 2,

First aid step 3 and usmleworld.

Probable date for exam: Dec 1st and 2nd.

Available time: ~ 40 days.

I would be taking usmleworld subscription the day I get my ecfmg certificate and I start my application process. Till then I will do from the other resources. Then I set my timetable for the remaining days.

Started today with Aster's notes and completed 40 % of it. I am done with it today and would try to do in breaks over the next 2 days. Started with mcqs from kaplan q book- pediatrics along with step 2 ck notes. Hope to complete the revision of the notes and 2 of the tests by today.

For loser, Hey! hope u too join me soon as we have planned to. It would be encouraging to have u along in the journey to step 3 prep.

Okay. Today I have to start off seriously. It's 8.30 am now and I have to start my studies. My plan for today is to complete half of crush. I have to complete crush in 2 days so that I can start revision later. Let's see whether I accomplish my goal for today.

  #5

Could complete half of crush as planned by evening. Going fast maybe becoz I had already read it for step2. After that I did 2 blocks of usmle cd. Faired badly. Got 40 and 39. I think I have to read some more extra information.

Tomorrow I have to complete the remaining crush or do adult medicine in Swanson. Whichever I feel like I think I would be doing that. Did not get my ecfmg certification yet. Wish I get it tomorrow.

  #6

started off with Adult medicine of Swanson. It has about 200 pages. Couldn't complete it today. Hope to complete it by Friday afternoon. The book is not too good but it is like revision, so I think I would do it.
Did not get my ecfmg certificate yet. Would call ecfmg tomorrow.

  #7

hi
u can track the certificate at fedex number they provide

all the best with ur prep

  #8

Thanks doctor81. But I haven't been provided/mailed any fedex track number. Called up ecfmg y'day and was told that it would be reaching me in the next couple of days.

Preparation going on slowly. Concentrating more on the certificate and the interviews more than studies. Dilly dallying with the idea of subscribing to usmleworld. Crush is so boring to read. Rather I find first aid has additional information, but who knows whether that info is tested on step 3 or not. Would try to stick to crush.

  #9

Finally I received a mail from fedex today. Hopefully I would get it in the next couple of days. So this gives my jitteriness too. I have to intensify my preparation. Good luck to myself and to all.

So finally I had received my ecfmg certificate and had applied for step 3. Also had mailed my certificate of identification too. The processing of my step 3 application too has begun. All set to get my permit.

Should be intensifying my preparation. One foolish thing I was doing till now was studying Crush the boards step 2 thinking it's the same as crush step 2. I wasn't liking the book. Now I have purchased crush step 3 and hope to complete as early as possible. Too much to read and too less of time. So actual preparation to start from today.

Time table:
Crush step3 : 3 days
Swanson : 7 days.
Usmleworld : 15 days
step 2 ck notes : 5 days
After 1 month would revise the same and reread crush step3 atleast 2 times again. Hope this helps me.

phey!! This exam seems tougher than the previous two. Completed Cardiology and Pediatrics of UW. Cumulative score till now is 56.4%. But many of the answers I mark are a sort of guesswork and I don't feel confident of anything. CCS seem okay. Got bored doing UW for 2 days. Would try to read crush or swanson today. My Goodness! Hell lot to study.

  #12

I have been wasting most of my time till now - mailing, thinking about interviews, etc. Okay, it's over. Would start seriously from today.

Would read crush internal medicine today.

  #13

I am unable to study in the weekends. End up spending time with my husband. At the end of the day, we repent having wasted the 2 days.

Today going to start with ID of UW. Have done the first exam and scored 80%. Now to review the expalnations of all these questions.

  #14

today I have booked the dates for Dec 13 and 14. Not even a month left for me. I am gettin jitters.

Completed ID. Would try doing Endocrinology today.

  #15

didn't read endocrinology. Completed 3/4th of crush. And about one-third of UW.

Hope to complete the remaining crush and do some revision today.

Completed 1/3rd of First aid.

Learnt only some additional points. Though not very informative, it was a sort of revision. Drug that can be given in Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis is Riluzole. This is something I didn't know.

Hope to complete as much first aid as possible today.

My cumulative usmleworld score comes to 65%. Hope this is good, though I have much more of it to complete.

Okay, let me start off my day.........

Phey! First aid today is taking a hell lot of time.
Going at snail pace.
Could complete only Obstetrics and Pediatrics till now.
Yet to complete Gynee, Ambulatory, Pulmo and Psychairty.
I know I won't be able to complete all these today. Hope to complete
atleast Gyne & Ambulatory today.

  #20

Once again, I wasn't determined. Had gone out for relaxation thinking that I would resume after an hour break. But I ended up wasting the whole evening. Watched a movie "Escape to Witch Mountain". Was tempted becoz I had watched it when I was a small kid with all my family and got nostalgic. Okay. No regrets. Done is done.

Today, got up at 4.30 in the morning to compensate for the losses. I intend to complete the remaining stuff of First Aid. Starting off with Ambulatory Medicine.
