- First of all: If the patient asks you directly, of course you must tell her, you can´t lie to her.

- First step: Ask Mr. J.W. about his reasons to not tell his daughter about it. Because the only reason to not tell the patient about it is if it´s going to be very bad for her to know it. For instance, she would committ suicide or something. If possible and the reason isn´t strong, try to convince Mr. J.W. that his daughter deserves to know it.

- 2nd step: maybe tell her about it.

by the way, is there any treatment for the disease?

i hope some point of these can help.

The patient is a minor and can not come to see you alone.

She is only 14 y/o and must accompany by her father who is her guardian.

Should you still tell her and order CT scan?

i agree with chemamr, you have to follow the parents wishes since they are the gaurdians, even if they may be hurting the child. but if she asks you, you have a responsibility to tell the patient the truth. if there is treatment then you have to find a way to convince parent to tell child.

I AGREE WITH CHEMAMR.
MEDICAL ETHICS AND GOOD CLINICAL PRACTICE CLEARLY SEZ WHAT CHEMAMR SEZ.
