Hello everybody!

i think there are people out there who are in the same boat with me-just applying.

i have applied to 5 programs yesterday and planning to apply to another 25-30 today.

just have a desperate need for reassurance-is it too late?do i have a chance to get some interviews?

if you have the same situation-come on over to this thread and lets help each other not to go crazy.

good luck

Hi Alenka,

As far as I know, many program may receive applications until Dec 1. Some even later. Many dont send out IV until Nov 1 (more than 10d from now). I think you will be fine.

Keep faith in this difficult time. A lot of people are like you. You are certified, right? I havent even taken my CS!!!! Keep my fingers crossed!!!!

Good luck

hey dont worry to much about it! i'm helping my husband apply this year and he still doesn't have his LORs and MSPE yet! i'm sending out his medical school transcript today. by the time all his documents get uploaded, it'll be 1st week of november! but he is certified and he's working on his application but did not apply to any programs yet.

Hi guys. Count me in. submitted applications last Oct. 26 to 15 progams. Will add 5 more tonight. Though early application is best, I guess applying before the programs ' deadline is alright, otherwise why would they bother downloading "late" applications . Now the waiting begins . . . My prayers for us all.

Hello everybody!

so far i got only one rejection and nothing else.

i've applied to only 10 programs-money is a huge issue for me right now.but i'll try to apply to 20 more programs by the end of this week.

the problem is-my LORs are all from my home country and they are from doctors of different specialty from what i'm applying to.plus-my personal statement is very weak and on top of that i found a spelling error in it.

so,there're lots of imperfections in this process for me.i'm feeling down a bit.

i have a question-should i apply to more programs or not?i feel like it will be just the waste of money this year-weak LORs,poor personal statement, late applying....or maybe i should wait till next year and will have better chances?

any advise is appreciated

a quick q guys.did u call the programs asking abt deadlines before applying or did u do it randomly.

  #10

send them an email. I think you should check every single program before sending application. Otherwise you will waste your money by sending applications to those programs that ask for certain requirements that you don't meet. Invest your time in checking each of the program.

Hi sobia. You might find useful info on Freida. most programs include their deadline and website in their profile.
the link is: http://www.ama-assn.org/vapp/freida/srch/1,1239,,...

hi i too am in the same boat, awaiting my cs results ,havent applied yet.....i checked the programs on freidaonline and most say that their deadlines are 1st dec or 31st dec,few also say jan end.....

now does it mean they will review every application sent till that time and call people on the basis of how complete their application is no matter when they applied before the deadline.......Just wanted to know when at the latest most of u would be applying.

thanks

Hi gv5. My opinion is: If you intend to join the 2007 match, Apply now to programs that are still accepting applications. Remember it takes approx 10 business days( from time they receive the documents) for ERAS to upload your documents.Hopefully you will have your ECFMG certificate by that time. You must have noticed also that on FREIDA many programs indicated "must have passed USMLE CS befor starting a first year position"; so if they think you have what they want, then at least you will be invited for interview while awaiting for the ECFMG certificate.
Dont depend on other applicants timetable .
Good luck and keep in touch.

thanks....i just wanted to know if at the time of application when i send my documents to eras do u think having the online caf certified and submited first will help speed up the process.

also wanted to know if i could now select all the programs that i intend to apply to and keep it ready on my eras before i send my documents to eras......when does one pay for the programs applied,is it only after docs have been uploaded or it can be before that.

  #15

U r welcome.
IF you certify your online CAF , that means it would be available for programs to download. When they would choose to do that varies. On my part, most programs downloaded my CAF, PS even before the LORs, MSPE, transcripts became available. This is not to discourage you, but one program emailed me a rejection already even just with the CAF , PS shaking head
Its a good idea to choose now the programs you like, assign available documents, and save it for later use.
ERAS (AAMC) will charge you only when you place a check on the checkbox of programs you selected and clicked apply to programs. Those you did not place a check on will remain under the heading "programs selected".

thanks,i have sent u a pm

Hi. This link might be helpful to gv5 and those intersested in the application process and match 2005 outcome:
https://services.aamc.org/Publications/index.cfm?... ayForm&prd_id=146&prv_id=172&cfid=1&cftoken=B41907B2-4C76-4FDE-AA442F3E039A 7AA1

Another way of doin it is:
go to AAMC website - click publication - click "applicants "under the heading browse a topic - click on Roadmap to Residency and the related article Charting the Outcome in the Match.

I was late too - finally got my applications to programs on Nov 3rd and 10th with the transcript only going on the 6th and 13th respectively.

However, some programs rejected me without even dnloading my transcript saying I've not met criteria - how would they know?

Anyway, eating a lot of cheese these days...

  #21
