hey guys,

Myeras has entered this phase of eerie silence of 2 weeks now after initial 3 happy weeks of interview invitations gushing in from all ends. I am a peds applicant. Why did the storm stop?

When will this monotony break? Mid-late Oct was supposed to be high activity period, right?

Anyone?

With you on the silence !!

  #3

wait till nov 1 until deans letter is released

  #4

dev do u think average credentials applicants get calls after nov 1st...or is it just wishful thinking.

  #5

I dont know if everyone has the same situation as the one I described.

Just hope Dean's letter does the trick

Gosh, it is really quite...and scary....it helps being a part of this forum for some kind of group therapy as you feel that there are others in the boat too. Any idea what the pace was during this time last year?

  #7

yup it seems to have dried out a little. almost like the end of the flood with just a steady tricklesmiling face

i was checking my mails from last year. I had 2 more by this time. they didnt call me this yeardisapproval

I have one question for applicants applying this year again, how many interviews did you attend last year and how many programs did you list last year for matching. also, what will you do this year differently, inorder to improve your chances for a match?
Will really appreciate a reply....thanks and GL.

Most of my interviews came around this time last year confused
And the universities who called me last year are not interested nowshocked

Well, that's the agony of a second timer.
dis3...I withdrew from the match coz I relocated and 'stuff'- attended 2 interviews, had 7 calls.

Improving chances for a match: Let every interview be your best interview. You can match with even 1 interview, and remain unmatched with an excess.

GL, all!

agree with elisha, reassurances from others do make a difference especially for first time applicants because they dont know the peak seasons that well.

hey mindmentor: i understand ur agony but look at the positive side.. u have the experience from previous year IVs and all those strategies u must have planned for this year.

Platinum, yeah definitely...I know a lil about what interviews are all about coz of last year..they did help.

My only agony now is "you have 0 unread messages" grin

Hi guys

there's another kind of eerie silence I'm experiencing.......no confirmation of IV date from Tucson after I emailed my choice of date....how long should I wait??

  #14

Elisha- I've usually given hospitals a week before I remind them again, by email or phone. Sometimes I've realised that if they are swamped, they will reply only in their sweet time, how much ever you ping them..but yeah, the anxiety in waitin is stressful.

Thanks for the reply Mindmentor.

Hi Platinum:

How many interviews have you gotten so far, if I may ask, and how many did you apply? Actually I want to know your credentials too.
It has been very silent for me...

I dont know what to say as today is the day I am entering into the grip of fear.

I saw many posts whether to expect any more interviews or not.

Some say it is silence before the storm, some say the storm passed by and only a small cloud is left behind. I understand that no one knows exactly what is happening but at the same time there are many applicants in this form who have already gone through this last year and know what is the time to start worrying.

I am grateful that I have a couple of interviews but it is human nature to want more.

I want to wish everybody good luck and may God be with us in this tough time

NO IVs AT ALL. SILENCE. confused

I'm feeling quite low, and wish just for the 1 good interviwe that I need.

I was put on hold or "reviewing applications" at 5 programs, but I'm not feeling very hopeful at all. Somehow I will manage, though. I just hope that the storm is still coming, because I'm not ready to give up quite yet.

Congrats to all of you who do have interviews. I wish that I could join you in the "Interview Club"...
sad

since we havent seen any visible destruction around YET, this silence has to be the one BEFORE a storm not the one after it . even if there were storms this season, they were small not noteworthy... so lets hope this silence is the one preceeding the biggest storm.

For me this eerie silence meant most awaiting to send rejection mails, atleast last year but i did recieve few interviews but those ones were like priliminarily confirmed before nov-01.

Remember most programmes wont even bother sending rejections unless you want to call them or e-mail them back asking for a response..

thanks god's child for ur kind wishes, hey spebeeto,i meant you still have chances of recieving interviews but most of them would have sent invites by now.so technically u still stand chance of getting interviews.

Infact i recieved one call i think mid december, but even before they invited me they had hinted at that in their well before actual invite !!,,... letter (i had applied late to few programmes).
