A child with fever , irritability & drooling. PE: there are numerous small ulcers on tongue + ant. Cervical Lymph node enlargement :

a. -Herpangina

b. -Herpes simplex stomatitis

c. Leucoplakia



How can we make the difference between herpangina and herpes simplex in this question?

herpangina causes lesions in the posterior pharyngeal wall. herpes simplex causes lesions on the tongue, buccal mucosa etc...

Thank you; so here the answer should be HSV?

The answer given on a site (not sure of it) was a. Herpangina.
