The game is just getting interesting, and you are thinking of quitting?
This is peak match season and the interviews will come, hang on. Depending on when you have applied, you may want to contact some programs and see if they have checked yr application as yet. Many programs are yet to begin reviewing/sending out invites.
Believe. Your time will come too.

I was speaking to one of my friend who has also applied for residency. When I told him that I am not getting any more interviews, then he told me instantly to call the programs. Is it advisable to do that? I am not getting any calls and this is worrying me.

i applied to 101 IM programs in middle september. sofar, 2 interviews and 2 rejections. i dont know what is holding things up (may be CK). i have good LOR, Green Card, 94/Pass/CK-next month. I am going to give it this week and if still no calls then i will start contacting programs next week. i doubt that a program will rule me out just becuase i contacted them so it cant hurt to contact unless the program has specifically told me not to contact them. any other thoughts out there about contacting programs???

I'm also waiting (im)patiently.
I am on hold at 5 places, rejects from 9... Applied to 100 programs.
This is how I like to look at it (at least for my piece of mind): They haven't called their "underdog" candidates yet.
It's like any sports-game: The highest-paid (highest scoring) players get called first because it looks good. Then, the real game begins, because all of the up-and-coming athletes are being looked at more carefully. It's not important to pick a player with great PAST credentials, but one that has a FUTURE.... Because, getting a FUTURE star is better than having one that might be burned out...
Ah, rationalization -- ain't it grand?!?!?

Hello friends, I am no expert on the matter but i will tell you what i experienced. I am in the same situation as you guys. Average scores (87x2, 82 CS pass) and GC holder IMG. I applied to 87 IM programs and so far nearly 8 rejections and 1 interview. And i was thinking to myself maybe i should start contacting to programs to see whether i can "extract" and interview somewhere. Guys I wrote an email to a program reminding them of how good and asset i will be there. Got a rejection the nest day. I checked All websites and forums. I couldn't find enough information on whether that program was sending out rejections.
First lesson There.
Second Lesson. In my "wise"mind i thouoght maybe if i actually go to some programs and get hold of someone there, maybe, maybe i could get lucky with an interview.
Program coordinators that i met seemed tired of dealing with "pushy" people like the one i was trying to be. So I wasn't surprised to find them behaving rudely. One program coordinator asked me the name and detals and i ran away thinking she will start typing a rejection while talking to me right there. I talked to another one on the phone because the security wouldn't let me in the hospital. She advised me not to contact the programs now and wait for calls in Eras website.
And now i am feeling i rushed in because i panicked seeing all these other people posting lists to rank the orders. And i am still to attend a single interview. I believe I am a average guy. Nothing less, nothing more. I have a place in the system and i will wait for it because it is still october yet.
So please people, do not rush and spoil your chance somewhere. Now this is my Humble opinion, and you are better judges for yourself.

hi doc of........le (big name) i ve almost same credentials like you , certified , gc, 2004 grad. i ve 9 iv so far. r u certified? when did u apply? i think u should ve more iv by now?

That was well told with so many examples. I will follow ur advice. I think I will wait atleast till Nov 1st or if I am patient enough till Nov 10th. That's my deadline for waiting. Then in case I don't get any more calls, I will try contacting the programs. If anyway they have no plans offering me an interview then what would I lose contacting them. If luck clicks then maybe I can get one.

Deardoc007, yes I am a punjabi. My scores are step 1 82 on second attempt and step 2 82 first , cs passed, 2002 graduate. GC holder but no USLOR or USCE. I am glad you got so many interviews. I hope i get something more than just 1. This is a very crutial year for me, next year i will be 5 years from graduation date and my chances will drop further.

i got no calls, 3 rejections!!! one of them said, we cant invite u...then they say ur applic is on "reserved" list!! I was wondering if that is wat they say to all those who have been rejected or only to those whom they might consider later on, in case an invited candidate drops out?????? any idea folks??

I have a few on hold emails.
The way i look at it is that they want us, but probably only if someone drops out of interviews. In that case they will call us. These programs will call onhold candidates probably very late in the season, somewhere like maybe january.

one thing u can do, when u get an 'on-hold" email, send an email right back thanking them and expressing ur interest in that program, and say u hope that will get a chance to interview there...that may help, but ur right about the other random calling/emailing to all programs...i don't c much of a point in that right now, but it may help later in nov/dec when they may have done most of their reviewing.

i emailed three programs for questions and got rejections the next day... i dont know if it was co incidence or my luck....
hold tight... have faith.. the ride is going to get more interesting and wild in the enxt 2 weeks
