hi, i got 212/86. not great, but i should still be happy with it. can anyone tell me is such a score means "really passed" for an img like me? quite worry about it.
here, i would like to especially thank losergirl and alice8, who answered most of my questions and thank yulia, who answered my first question. i studied alone and lonely in a country out of usa and worked as a full time researcher. i was so excited to feel not alone any more when i discovered this forum just a few weeks before my exam date.

hey i dont think this a bad score. I know ppl who r getting in residencies of family med and internal med with lower scores n more than one attempts so unless u r aiming some really tough field, u shouldnt be worried at all. Plus remember they r not just gonna look at your scores, there r other things that count. so cheer up, u did good grin grin grin . Honestly if i get that score, i wont be complaining, rather celebrating. So here is a toast for u: cheer up grin

hi looser girl ! i got a score of 83/205 and it was my second attempt. do you have any idea what would be my chances of getting an internal medicine residency ? and what are the 'other things' that you mentioned? are they things like research, observership,US experience, etc.? i finished medical school in 2002.what should i try to do to improve my chances of an IM residency ? thank you !

well first of all, congrats for passing. I dont believe in ppl who r trying to discourage individuals who have passed the exam. Passing the exam is a big deal!! so if your goal is to get in family med or int med your chances are not that bad, sure there may be difficulties but u r gonna make it grin
bout 'other things' i mentioned, u might wanna take a look at first aid of step2. they have put this graph in the begining that shows various factors in % that build up towards your residency. i am hoping u have the first aid, if u dont, just go to a bookstore n have a look at it.
talk to someone who is doing residency (in field of your interest) to help u out. Another thing NY is a good place for IMGs, its comparitively easy to get in. Another factor, if u r bilingual or trilingual thats a great plus.
If anyone (with experience) is offended by or they just simply disagree with my opinion, plz do post your replies here to help enfield. Thats the purpose of this forum to encourage each other with truthful statements n provide some positive push.
