hello bbb
I saw a lot of posts where you have given valuable info so i thought i'll just ask you for your advice.
I'm a foreign medical graduate (ཁwink. passed my steps, and applying for internal medicine residency next year.

I'm currently working as a research assistant and working on a publication. could you please advice me on whether to wait for the publication to submit my common application form or should i start applying without the publication?

My scores are step 1 78, step 2 85 and cs passed all in first try. I'm looking out for residency in TX.

Could you please help me..

Don't wait until your publication is accepted and published. As you well-know it is a long ...long process to have a paper published in a journal with a good impact factor. Furthermore, the ERAS system does not allow you to discriminate between abstract/original communications/letter to the editors/reviews. It all appears as the same .... "publications".

In the research world there is really a difference between all of them. Of course an original communication in a peer-review journal has more merit than a poster. This is something that you can beef-up in your statement of purpose when talking about your research experience. What you can say is that your paper has been submitted for review".

Good luck....

Question??? Are you applying to the short track??

If you've read my posts, you know my answer would be "apply as soon as possible....as early as possible," etc....

Good luck
