Well, I didnt use other books, so I dont have an idea about these books, I'm sorry.
But if u r studying Kaplan books, then they r more than enough, and u will only need to study the first aid, unless u r studyin other books, then I'm not sure if they r enough or not, or whether they r easy to study or not.
regarding images and pics, honestly I didnt pay that attention to them only reviewed the pics in the first aid, bcz most of the times the question stem will guide u to the answer before seeing the pic, but there r some web sites for these pics I'm sure the guys in this forum know about them.
Finally, u have to pay attention to the diagrams and figures in the books, esp neuroanatomy, e.g. the ventricular system in the brain, these stuff r really imp.
ok take care

Dear Slacker,
I started doing the Qbank after finishing the books for the first time, I was doing it as one block a day in addition to reading the books for the 2nd time, I was doing that randomly, so that when u read the books for the 2nd time, u know where to focus.
But I couldnt finish the Qbank, bcz I was kinda lazy, and I still have 2 blocks to finsh it grin
Good luck

Hi Dr.Safi,
so you did not use any textbooks for studying i keep hearing upper classmen tell us to read harrison's or robbins in order to understand concepts for the boards, but do you think it is really necessary, or can one just understand the concepts from kaplan books? i can understand concepts from reviewbooks, but i dont know if i should still read textbooks or not, especially since i plan to take it in june and i don't have much time to finish big textbooks.

Hi sitara,
You're obsolutely right, reading big text books of course is of benefit, BUT who has the time for that, I spend my whole time just reading the kaplan books twice, and I think they're more than enough if u understand them and then start doing questions with ur 2nd review.
Success is not about how many books u read but about mastering what u have.
So just try to be time comitted for ur study until the exam day and I'm sure u're gonna do great.
Thank u all friends, and God bless.

Dear Dr Safi,
congrats,
what exact Kaplan books did you study.
I have ordered home study kit online but am being discouraged . shall I keep it give it a try or shall i return it and order sth else instead.
thanks for your time,
gursharan

Dear Dr Gursuchi,
I studied the kaplan books that comes with the course, 7 books + Qbook,
I've seen the home study kit, the whole subjects are summerized into two books, but I'm not sure if they r enough, I didnt read them.
But obviously they contain less info, thats all what I know about them.
GOOD LUCK

please post your important topics depending on your exam.
High yield topics.

thanks

Dear Dr. Abdo,
I found the NBME tests are very very useful because they are accurate in estimating your score in the real test, you can view the thread of the scores to find out.
they consist of 4 forms, each with 200 questions or 4 blocks, and each costs about 50$.
I did form 2, I'm not sure if these forms differ in their difficulty, but the important point here is that you should do the NBME at least 3 weeks before your scheduled date, but you should only do it if you are ready to postpone your exam date if you didnt get the score you expect, because other wise there is no point of doing the NBME if you get a low score and you are not willing to change your date, because thats the whole point of it. It is better to do the NBME in a timed manner like you're doing the real test, I only did one of them. I hope this thing helps you in regard to your question.
Drbcshah, I'm sorry but I dont remember much of the topics now because its been 3 months since I did the test, but I assure you that you will find questions that wont take only few seconds to do, and others that you cant solve even with an open book !!
the key here is to move quickly and not to get stucked in the difficult questions.
sorry again, and thank you all
God bless.

Dear Dr.,
I was studying the 2005 edition which changed mainly pathology, anatomy, biochemistry, and pharmacology.
I dont know how much did they change them, you have to check them, but the point here is to combine the lecture notes with notes from the video lectures, and when you are done with the books you can write down your notes from the qbank.
good luck
