I just wanted to inquire if it is necessary to have a specialty on mind when one goes to their interview. All of the univeristy programs that I have an interview with are asking me about specialty that I want to go into so that they could match me with someone from that department during the interview. If I have not made up my mind yet on what specialty I would like to go into, does that look bad or should I just say that I am not planning to do one or just say I am thinking of certain specialties and name a couple of them? For a university program is it necessary for a candidate to say that they want to have a specialty, rdo esearch and teach later on to get a better chance of matching into that program?

Name a couple of specialities that might interest you.
