Thanks to all, Catmd04, Mazinger, doctor75. For doctor75, My exam preparation was for around 2 to 2.5 months. Though planned for 2.5 months, couldn't start early due to visitors at home. So it was, I can say, for 2 months (though used to study in between whenever had time). My materials were Kaplan step 2 books, Blueprints for ObG, psychiatry, step up to medicine and usmle world. I read pediatrics only for 2 days a week before the exam becoz I am a pediatrician from India. And I was confident in that subject. I had done the mcq of pediatrics from usmleworld. About a week before the exam, I read Boards & wards and Crush step 2. I liked Boards & Wards and felt I should have read that book earlier. During my exam, I felt the questions were easier than usmleworld. Had a number of medicine and pediatrics questions. ObG qusetions were also about 25%. Not much of biostats, psychiatry, ophthal, or radiology. Dermatology was tested but were easy. I had no problem with the time management and even had time to go back and review the marked ones in almost all the blocks. Only thing is that I felt very bored sitting there, and maybe in a block or so, tended to just click on an answer which I felt was right without applying any thoughts or logic onto them. The exam wasn't that tough on the whole. I did not feel tired after the exam which I experienced after step 1. Hope this would be helpful. I am not very good in detailing things but have tried the best. Good luck to all.

To usmleGladiator, I think I have studied the 2005 notes which I had downloaded from one of the forums. I used to study for 8-9 hrs a day for the 2 months I mentioned. Weekends however I used to enjoy. I am not in India presently and so I can't tell you if they are available. But I do think you can get the notes from Delhi as some of my friends have purchased from that place. I think, with 5-6 hrs of daily study, u can be prepared in 3-3.5 months. But of course that's variable. It depends on many factors, u know, speed of reading, pattern of reading, maybe u may need less time too. Good luck.

congratulations. you obviously deserve your score. you were too good for the exam. i did nto have a similar experience. time wise, i barely had enouogh. i took too long reading the questions cos i was always worried about not making the wrong choice. all the best at the match.

Reading 2 books (kaplan and blueprints) was like revising the stuff as well as gave better understanding about the subject. I felt blueprints was easier to understand and remember than kaplan. I liked blueprints psychiatry better than kaplan. I downloaded kaplan notes from a forum I don't recall now. I think it is usmleforums. Crush 2 was also good for last minute revision, however it was my personal feeling that boards & wards gave me more extra information I didn't know that crush 2. Hope I answered ur queries. Good luck.

Thanks doctor75 and klimt. I did not read first aid. I heard it is good for step 1 and step 3 but not for step 3. I liked boards & wartds though it is a bit extensive. I don't remember if I got any questions of step 1. Though they were 1 or 2 they were doable ones. I had a couple of cts, esay ones. And only 2 xrays. But I had a significant number of ecgs.
