this vignette describes a 56 yr old pt with classical presentattion of lt sided colon ca. howerver in mx, they say start with proctosigmoidy. full colonoscopy will eventually be needed. i wanted to know how many agree with this approach. the proctosigmoidoscopy wud seem a waste as the colonoscopy has to be done any how. i tot going directly for colonoscopy was a better choice. will appreciate opinions.

In left sided cancer presentation: we do flexible sigmoidoscopy and note the tumor location and take out biopsies for path. However before we go for surgery we need to make sure that there is no other place missing in the colon thats why we do full length colonoscopy.Hope this helps

Guess u cant be 100% sure its ca colon before getting the histopath report despite the classical presentation and when u r sure its ca colon then u look for coexistent tx by colonoscopy......
